Candle Care
Enhance Your Candle Experience
Proper candle care not only extends the life of your candles but also ensures that you enjoy their full aromatic benefits. Here are some essential tips to help you get the most out of your Grice Wax & Wicks candles:
1. Trim the Wick
- Before Each Use: Always trim the wick to about 1/4 inch before lighting your candle. This helps to create a steady flame, reduces soot, and prevents the candle from burning too quickly.
2. Allow for an Even Melt Pool
- First Burn: On the first burn, let your candle melt all the way to the edges of the container. This typically takes about 1 hour for every inch in diameter. Doing so prevents tunneling and ensures an even burn for future uses.
3. Keep Candles Away from Drafts
- Ideal Placement: Position your candle in a stable, draft-free area. Avoid placing it near open windows, air vents, or fans, as drafts can cause uneven burning and soot buildup.
4. Burn for the Right Amount of Time
- Optimal Burn Time: To prevent candle wax from overheating and to maximize the scent throw, burn your candle for 2 to 4 hours at a time. This allows the wax to pool evenly without compromising the candle’s integrity.
5. Safety First
- Supervision: Never leave a burning candle unattended, and keep it out of reach of children and pets. Always place candles on heat-resistant surfaces and away from flammable materials.
6. Extinguish Properly
- Avoiding Smoke: Use a candle snuffer to extinguish your candle instead of blowing it out. This minimizes smoke and helps maintain the wick’s structure for a cleaner burn next time.
7. Store Candles Correctly
- Optimal Storage: Store your candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent fading and warping. When not in use, keep them covered to protect them from dust and debris.
8. Clean Your Candle Holders
- Post-Burn Care: After your candle has completely burned out, clean the container thoroughly before reusing it. This will remove any residue and ensure optimal performance for your next candle.
9. Reuse and Repurpose
- Creative Uses: Once your candle has burned down, consider repurposing the container for storage, plant pots, or decorative items. It’s a great way to minimize waste and add a personal touch to your decor!
