How to refill your candle

Your candle is finished, but your jar isn’t. Our Renewal Edition candle refills let you enjoy your favorite GRICE WAX & WICKS fragrances again in the vessel you already love.

Here’s how to prepare your jar for its next candle.

Before You Begin

Stop burning at 1/4 in of wax.  Let the candle cool completely before removing the remaining wax.

Method 1: Warm the Outside of the Jar

1. Place your cooled candle jar in a heat-resistant bowl.
2. Add boiling water to the bowl until it reaches about halfway up the outside of the jar. 
3. Give the wax time to soften around the edges.
4. Carefully lift the jar out and gently remove the loosened wax with a paper towel. 
5. Remove the old wick, metal wick base, and any remaining adhesive.

Method 2: Use the Freezer

The freezer is another way to help the remaining wax release from your jar.

1. Make sure your candle has cooled to room temperature. 
2. Leave it in the freezer for approximately two hours.
3. Gently loosen and remove the remaining wax with a butter knife. 
4. Remove the old wick, metal base, and remaining adhesive.

Clean and Dry Your Jar

Allow the jar to return to room temperature before washing it. Wipe away leftover wax, then clean the inside with mild soap and a soft, non-abrasive cloth or sponge. 

Dispose of wax in the trash, not down your drain. Let the jar dry completely before adding your refill.

Add Your Renewal Edition Refill
